When they're not skanking to the ska-punk sound in Five Iron Frenzy, Reese Roper (guitar/vocals), Dennis Culp (guitar), and Keith Hoerig (bass) compose a swirly, spacedelic style in Brave Saint Saturn. They like to say they're forerunners of "astro-rock," so Brave Saint Saturn's eclectic, noisy mix of turntables, strings, keyboards, and accordions goes for the space-pop thing. Sarabellum issued the trio's debut, So Far from Home, in early 2000. Two years later, Brave Saint Saturn signed with Seattle's Tooth & Nail and released The Light of Things Hoped For several months after inking the deal. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
